Bastet's Story Part III

Bastet woke with a jolt. Her dream startled her. It was the clearest dream she'd had in a very long time. Almost as if it had actually happened…

When she looked to the window, her heart stopped. There was Anubis sitting in the window, watching her with protective eyes. 'He's here?' 'He's been here all night, you stupid girl.'

She blushed. Had he really been in her room all night? Watching her, waiting for her to wake? It was a possibility. But if her dream was real then what about the rest of it…?

"Good morning, Bastet," he smiled. "I'm sorry I startled you, I just didn't want to wake you."

Bastet shook her head, and went to her closet pulling her bed sheet along behind her. "It wasn't you that startled me. It's the fact that I… thought everything was a dream." She was dressing as she talked. "So you've been here all night?" and now she hid a blush.

As she finished dressing, Anubis took the sheet and replaced the ones on the bed. "Not exactly all night, I had to leave for awhile. I have a job, there are many dead souls out there," he smiled at her.

Bastet's cheeks turned pink again. "I guess that's true," she caught a scent. "Is that rain?"

"Yes, it's actually raining. It started right around midnight and hasn't stopped yet. It's probably why you seem so restless already today," he looked at her twitching tail pointedly.

She nodded, trying to get her tail to stop with its flicking. "It is. Rain always does this to me. Dunno why," her tail started twitching again.

Automatically, Anubis's had wrapped around hers, "Relax, Bastet. Please?"

And very slowly he leaned down and kissed her again.
