The night was black, the sky twinkling with millions upon millions of faraway celestial bodies. The moon was huge, a perfect orb of glowing silver light. This light was what marked the path that this lone figure would stay out of. The shadows cloaked them, enveloping them with an inky black cover.

From the shadows the figures' eyes reflected red in the moonlight. They took a deep breath, taking in the many unpleasant scents of the big city. Trash, smoke, and many other unmentionable smells tickled their nose, making it wrinkle in displeasure. But above all of those scents was a very wet, mouthwatering scent.

The figures' mouth watered at the slightest thought of what was to come. The figure pushed back the hood of their jacket and long black hair tumbled out, tipped with white. The eyes in a normal light were purple with many tiny smoky blue rings in the irises.

Alexis Dracul stepped gracefully out from the alley way and started her hunt. Her intended prey was a young man, maybe 25. His blood wasn't completely clean, but cleaner than many of the other humans she could be hunting. She picked up the biting odor of alcohol in this particular man, and the smell of cigarettes. Not only that, but he was a killer.

She followed him into a narrow alley, where he stopped at one of the corners of a dead-end, too drunk to even realize Alexis was standing so close.

"So tell me, Larry, what does it feel like to murder your own wife in cold blood? Did it make you feel like a man?" she asked smoothly, a predatory grin spreading across her lips.

He looked up at her, his eyes glazed over, bloodshot, and dangerous. The human equivalent to the eyes of a killer. "She was a bitch. Cheated on me with my own brother. She deserved ever stab she got," he slurred. "'Sides, I didn't want no damned kids. They're useless little pests."

"Do you know what happens to guys who do what you did when they live in my family's town, Larry? Men who beat, rape, then murder their own wives because they wanted someone who actually cared?" Alexis had been slowly stalking closer, her eyes cold and hard. "Men who kill their children before they even have a chance to enter this world? They all die."

The man stood up, obviously spooked despite the affects of alcohol on his body. "Wh-What they hell ARE you?"

"I'm your worst nightmare. I'm your Angel of Death, come to collect your worthless soul." She pounced on him, snapping his neck instantly. As the corpse fell heavily to the ground, Alexis sank her fangs into the soft flesh of the neck and began drinking.

The blood was thick with alcohol, but warm which was always a welcome gift as it flowed into Alexis' mouth. It had a biting, salty taste which all creatures like her craved and needed to survive. She drank deeply, needing to finish before the blood cooled and stopped flowing completely.

The work was quick, and the body was empty of blood all too quickly. It dulled the aching in her throat and stomach, making everything easier. 'Maybe I'll go hunt another scum,' she thought then she glanced sharply to the east. The sky was lightening, turning purple. "Ah shit, I did it again," she cursed herself and looked down at the bloodless body laying before her.

She gathered the body and tossed it into the abandoned gas station across the street. Using the boxes and such she lit a cigarette from the man's pocket. She dropped it onto the boxes, which caught fire almost immediately. "There, all done," she said to the body, "no one will ever know what happened to you."

Moving fast, Alexis left the gas station and headed do south from the city, racing against the impending dawn. Getting touched by the sun meant she'd catch fire herself and explode. Not a favorable outcome to the nights success. The Society would be none to pleased if she were stupid enough to be out when dawn arrived.

She smelled the place she called home long before she saw it. It smelled of her kin, of the many vampires that made up the Society. The building itself was grand, completely invisible to the human eye. No one was outside, since predawn was already risen and dawn was coming quickly.

Alexis let herself in and locked the door to the windowless manor. She spun around, looking at the gathered vampires that acted as guards. "Good morning, Highness," they said nodding their heads. She smiled to herself.

Descending the spiraling stair case into the basement was an everyday even for Alexis. The library was down here, her sanctuary after a long night of hunting. Sitting off in the corner was a fellow vampire, one she saw very often.

This particular vampire was tall, with snow white hair which he always kept cut to his shoulders. Well, except for his bangs, he kept those cut around his nose. His eyes had always intrigued Alexis, never before had she seen such deep green eyes. He'd seen may battles, made obvious by the countless scars.

"Saphren, it's good to see you back," Alexis said as she turned her attention to the shelves of books. Saphren would disappear for days on end, and when he was, no one save for a few people treated her like a normal vampire.
This story is for #VampireSociety, a group I made. I typed this pretty quick, so it probably sucks. I'd like everyone's input, though!
